Vancouver Restaurant Choices
Overlooking the Columbia River, with a cozy nautical theme, our Quay Restaurant and Bar is enjoying its 52nd year as one of the most popular dining destinations in Vancouver. It is truly one of the biggest reasons locals and guests return to our hotel time and again.
Guests will have their choice of the freshest local seafood, along with an enticing menu of regional favorites. In addition to breakfast, lunch and dinner, the restaurant offers Red Lion's signature Roaring Start Breakfast - which includes juices, breakfast breads, pancakes, bagels, assorted cereals, yogurt, a signature egg dish, bacon, sausage and breakfast potatoes. Remember kids 6 and younger eat free with each adult. Voted "Best in Vancouver" by the readers of The Columbian newspaper, the Quay's Sunday Brunch is a Vancouver tradition.
If you're looking to relax and unwind over cocktails and a game or two of pool, stop by the Quay Lounge, which offers happy hour seven days a week and live entertainment on Friday and Saturday evenings.
Now it's a fact that the Quay Restaurant holds its own with the top restaurants in Vancouver, but you've traveled all this way, so why not sample a taste of the city?
A few of our favorites:
Beaches Restaurant and Bar
Right on the Columbia River, Beaches Restaurant and Bar presents breathtaking waterfront views, especially from one of the comfy patio seats. Inside, you'll feel as though you've stepped into an impromptu beach getaway, complete with sand and driftwood. Local seafood is a hallmark of their great lunch, dinner and happy hour menus, and summer is an especially fun time: Beaches hosts "Beaches Cruisin'" at Portland International Raceway every Wednesday night, featuring classic cars and their classic food. (Insider tip: In the summer, you can even have your meal delivered straight to your boat!)
The Rock: Wood Fired Pizza and Spirits
Step into The Rock and you step into pure rock n' roll: Vintage posters and records adorn the walls, and everything from the dishes (our favorite is the Yellow Brick Road, a twist on Hawaiian pizza) to the drinks (check out the "bucket" drink, which arrives in a sand pail) is themed. Grab a "Backstage Pass" card and get the VIP treatment: happy hour discounted prices, in the main restaurant. Another great bargain is the lunch buffet: all-you-can-eat pizza, pasta, soup, and salads. Bring your date or your family. Rockers of all ages are welcome here!
Breakfast at Valerie's
Great eats and affordable prices: Valerie's has it nailed with a welcoming staff and breakfast and lunch specials that can be ordered at any time of day. This local joint is one of our top picks for a home-style meal. Business travelers take note: They also offer wi-fi for doing business over a bite.
Big Al's Bowling
Big Al's is just that - big! Located in east Vancouver, Big Al's boasts 42 lanes (including 12 of which you can rent hourly, and enjoy "cosmic" bowling at all hours of the day), a full arcade, two separate bars, and a tempting onsite restaurant. Stop by seven days a week: Big Al's is open until 1:00 A.M. on Friday and Saturday. (We especially love the live-music Fridays!) If you're looking for a spot to watch the game, swing by the main bar area, where a 100-foot TV awaits.
The Main Event Sports Grill
Our favorite cocktail at the Main Event is the Fruit Loop Martini - but that doesn't mean all their other specials won't live up to your expectations! Just a few blocks from our hotel, this sports bar maintains a classy atmosphere, ideally suited for girls' nights and game nights alike.
